Alex Murley continued his impressive WorldSSP300 season with another point scoring ride in the third round of the Supersport 300cc World Championship at Imola yesterday.

Rounding out the opening day in 8th aboard his Team Toth R3 Yamaha, the teenager from Birmingham qualified a superb 12th after taking part in Superpole for the first time in his career.

The 11 lap race was hard fought from start to finish with Murley involved in a 6 rider fight from the off. Showing incredible race craft from the opening lap the #18 rider gave it everything, pushing to the limit to secure another World Championship point scoring finish to add those achieved in Spain and the Netherlands.

The result moves Alex to within a couple of points of a top ten position in the overall classification and with confidence high he can head to his home race at Donington Park in a fortnight with his head held high.

Alex Murley – 15th:
“It was a really good weekend at Imola, I really enjoyed it. It was a new track for me. Free Practice went well and we made really good progress with the bike. Ended the opening day 8th which meant I progressed into Superpole. Qualifying was a new experience for me and we decided to try a strategy of going out first and pushing to do the lap alone but it was the wrong decision. We still qualified 12th and were again top British rider so all in all I was confident for the race. At least the next time I’m in Superpole we know what to do! The race was hot and hard. I had a great battle with Dani Valle and the championship leader Scott Deroue. I really enjoyed the race, putting in some good moves on the brakes. I had to give back a position due to a yellow flag on the last lap but all in all it was another strong weekend. Next race is my home race at Donington and I cannot wait!”

A new range of official Alex Murley merchandise will be launched at the UK round of the series where Alex hopes to put on a great show in front of the British fans.
