In News, WorldSSP300

Alex Murley may have suffered a crash in round three of the 2018 FIM Supersport 300 World Championship at the iconic Imola circuit in Italy but nevertheless the top British rider in the series left with his head held high after another strong showing aboard his R3 Yamaha.

Lapping faster than the 2017 lap record, Alex pushed hard throughout the weekend but the fact of the matter is he still faces a deficit to the front runners in some key areas, namely acceleration.

The gap to the front with the new 2018 regulations is coming down but there is work to be done to enable the #18 rider to show his true potential.

The next round of the World Championship takes place at historic Donington Park in Leicestershire, a venue where Alex excelled at twelve months ago.

Here’s hoping the crowd get behind him and he can open his 2018 points tally on home soil!

Alex Murley:
“It was a really enjoyable round at Imola despite the crash. Imola is one of the most iconic tracks in the world and one of my favourites. I feel really happy on the bike and with the set up we now have we are just lacking some small things, especially acceleration which in WorldSSP300 is critical. We have to keep working and I am sure we will get there. I feel like I am riding better than ever and so it’s just one of those things to crash out due to something out of my control but that’s racing. On a positive note it’s my home round next and I can’t wait to get back out there in front of the British fans. Donington is my home track and I have great memories of last year and hope to do as well if not better this time around.”
